Soteria Safe Sleep Advice
For River’s Gift
River’s Gift is Australia’s solely SIDS focused charity, dedicated to funding world leading scientific research, providing safe sleep education and raising awareness of this devastating syndrome.
SIDS is still one of the largest causes of death of children from 1 month to 1 year.
Established in November 2011 by Karl Waddell and Alex Hamilton, these two devastated yet focused and determined parents were searching for answers surrounding the sudden and unexpected death of their healthy baby boy, their first child, River. River passed away in his sleep at just 128 days old with no specific cause of death established after a thorough forensic investigation.
River’s Gift has evolved into a globally recognised cause, with thousands of supporters joining them in their mission of Stamping Out SIDS.
To date, River’s Gift has generated over $1.6 million and relies solely on the support of the community and corporate giving for raising the funds required to drive and implement their initiatives.

Our charity offers health professionals the opportunity to upskill in Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC), also known as the Possums programs. NDC offers the latest evidence-based approaches to breastfeeding, cry-fuss problems, sleep and maternal mood, developed out of 15 years of research.
It’s common to feel alone, stressed or worried about your baby’s crying, breastfeeding or sleep problems. I’m coming along to tell you all about Possums Programs (Neuroprotective Developmental Care) in dozens of short videos and also easy-to-read written guides for parents.

Motherhood is an incredible rite of passage for women. It comes with a multitude of mixed feelings and emotions, from euphoria and warm, unconditional motherly love, to uncertainty and almost torturous tiredness. This is all normal! Let’s face it, motherhood is wonderful, but it’s a tough gig, and none of us really know what we are doing!
I strongly believe that we as mothers, need to take care of ourselves first, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. If we want balance in our lives, and are practicing healthy living through regular exercise and healthy eating, we are better able to meet the everchanging demands of motherhood, lead our families and be a positive role model for our children.
I look forward to meeting you! – Paula
It is now widely recognised that babies learn more during the first year than at any other time in their life. In fact, their brain doubles in volume due to connections formed as a direct result of their activities and experiences.
Baby Sensory is a unique programme specifically designed for babies from birth to 13 months old to promote learning and development during this precious first year. Classes are packed with an incredible variety of sounds, smells, sights, textures, music, dance, signing, therapeutic games, bonding and massage, all designed to aid all round brain development, as well as social and emotional skills.

As babies and toddler’s love of water grows, so must their understanding of water safety. By teaching various core safety skills and hosting dedicated Safety Weeks, our program leads the way in making safe and confident children at an early age. Swimming lessons are often the first “classrooms” most children encounter in their early years. A new experience for them containing structured learning, group dynamics and an all new environment help them learn how to settle in and start learning. Jess looks forward to chatting to you about swimming lessons with your baby!
Come along and connect with like-minded mums in a supportive and welcoming environment.
